چکیده

Confirmatory factor analytic tests of measurement invariance (MI) based on the chi-square statistic are known to be sensitive to sample size. For this reason, Cheung and Rensvold (2002) recommended using alternative fit indices in MI investigations. However, previous studies have not established the power of fit indices to detect data with a lack of invariance. In this study, we investigated the performance of fit indices with simulated data known to not be invariant. Our results indicate that alternative fit indices can be successfully used in MI investigations. Specifically, we suggest reporting McDonald’s noncentrality index along with CFI, and Gammahat.

Utility of Complex Alternatives in Multiple-Choice Items: The Case of All of the Above

This study investigated the utility of all of the above (AOTA) as a test option in multiple-choice items. It aimed at estimating item fit, item difficulty, item discrimination, and guess factor of such a choice. Five reading passages of the Key English Test (KET, 2010) were adapted. The test was reconstructed in 2 parallel forms: Test 1 did not include the abovementioned alternative, whereas Te...

Applying Permutation Tests and Multivariate Modification Indices to Configurally Invariant Models That Need Respecification

The assumption of equivalence between measurement-model configurations across groups is typically investigated by evaluating overall fit of the same model simultaneously to multiple samples. However, the null hypothesis (H0) of configural invariance is distinct from the H0 of overall model fit. Permutation tests of configural invariance yield nominal Type I error rates even when a model does no...

Problems of Item Parceling with CFA Tests of Measurement Invariance

Combining items into parcels in confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) can improve model estimation and fit. Because adequate model fit is imperative for CFA tests of measurement invariance, parcels have frequently been used. However, the use of parcels as indicators in a CFA model can have detrimental effects on tests of measurement invariance of factor loadings. Using simulated data with a known ...

Utility of the Atopy Patch Test in the Diagnosis of Allergic Rhinitis

Introduction: The diagnostic work-up of allergic rhinitis (AR) is first and foremost based on the combination of clinical history data and results of skin prick tests (SPT). Other tests, including specific IgE measurement, nasal challenge, and, as a third option, component resolved diagnosis or basophil activation test, may be useful when the diagnosis is difficult because of polysensitization ...

Using SAS PROC TCALIS for multigroup structural equation modelling with mean structures.

Multigroup structural equation modelling (SEM) is a technique frequently used to evaluate measurement invariance in social and behavioural science research. Before version 9.2, SAS was incapable of handling multigroup SEM. However, this limitation is resolved in PROC TCALIS in SAS 9.2. For the purpose of illustration, this paper provides a step-by-step guide to programming the tests of measurem...
